I am passionate about healing and improving your life. I bring backgrounds in science, philosophy and education to my current work in mental health and nursing. Using solid evidence, accessible teaching, and an understanding of the bigger, holistic picture, I can personalize and adjust treatment to help you be a better you with the tools and skills to foster more experiences of freedom and joy, which I believe everyone craves and everyone benefits from.
Education and Training
I moved to Boston about 25 years ago after graduating from high school in southern Florida. I studied science and philosophy at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, teaching at University of Massachusetts Boston, massage therapy at Mass Bay Community College, nursing at the MGH Institute of Health Professions, and received my Masters in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing at Northeastern University.
Experience
Before becoming a nurse, I had taught high school science for 13 years. I worked as a home health aide during nursing school, then as a psychiatric nurse at McLean Hospital for 6 years. After becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I worked at a community clinic. I now have a private practice with office space in the Jamaica Plain area of Boston.
About Three Trees Mental Health
I started Three Trees with the vision to deliver effective, efficient, interdisciplinary mental health care in the Boston area, and to develop educational videos and text-based materials for use anywhere that mental health resources are needed. The number three can be symbolic for stability and community (like the three branches of any democracy), and is more inclusive than binary (yes/no) thinking. Trees have always been symbols of strength, growth, and adaptability, which are difficult traits to have at the same time.
